14 of the Best Books Out in August

If you like to follow adaptations and haven’t yet heard of the latest thing that has the internet’s collective tongue wagging, you should take a look at the new trailer for Wicker, starring Olivia Coleman and Alexander Skarsgård as a fish monger and the wicker man the aforementioned fish monger had made to be her husband, respectively. It was adapted from Ursula Wills’ short story, The Wicker Husband. I haven’t read the short story yet, but the movie looks like is has what the BookTok girlies call spice. As for new releases, this month is full of great ones. There’s Take What You Can, Naima Coster’s tale of female friendship, and I Haunt It That Way , a cozy paranormal romance by Book Riot writer Isabelle Popp. There are also a few books that I predict will be bestsellers. Among them are Riley Sager’s Vermont-set horror mystery The Unknown, contemporary romance The Project by Annie Lord, and Jaclyn Moriarty’s light sci-fi novel Time Travel for Beginners.
