Guest Post

fvI was excited to launch Across the Lake this month. Authors talk about the “book of the heart”
and this book truly is a book from my heart because it shines a light on the light of the
world—Jesus.
I never expected to write New Testament stories and have Jesus be in the stories. Writers craft
characters and give them personalities, dialogue, and inner thoughts. I could not do this to Jesus
as the Bible is clear about adding and subtracting from the Word of God. I stayed away from
New Testament stories and wrote Old Testament accounts.
The tagline for my books is Bringing little-known Bible characters to light. Most people have
heard about Jesus, so there was no need for me to write about Him. Until I prayed for the Lord to
show me where to go next in my writing, and I could not find a story that I desired to write.
My husband and I took a trip to Israel in March of 2023. Our trip was cut short due to a family
emergency, so all I visited was the region of the Sea of Galilee. While rocking on a boat in the
middle of the sea, I prayed again for God’s guidance. I became emotional and it was as if God
was nudging me to write about this place where Jesus ministered to and healed many. You would
think that writing about this region would be obvious, but it meant I had to tackle some “firsts”
in my writing career.
I wrote short stories for the first time. I even drafted a Bible study section for each story which
was new for me. I dealt with fiction not nonfiction. And bringing Jesus’s awesomeness to the
page had to be done through His disciples and the people Jesus healed. Jesus is so amazing that
His love shines through even though I couldn’t write Him like my other Bible heroes.
I hope readers draw closer to Jesus and that readers who don’t know Jesus, will desire a personal
relationship with Him.
This was by far the most difficult book I have written, but I hope it encourages many people. I
wouldn’t mind a revival in the world either.
